Roundtable: Switching Places With a Privateer, What Time Does Deegan Babysit, and Does Anstie Win Southwick?

Welcome to the Vurbmoto Roundtable! It’s a feature we had in the early days and now it’s such a legend that it makes a return. Our panel of experts, Bird and T-Dog, give their best opinion on hot topics in the sport. We also let Slaw give his opinion, but no one cares what he has to say. Let’s get to it!

Would you let Haiden Deegan babysit your children?

Bird Dog: This is a great question, as I recently saw a post from the Craig family of Haiden playing with their kids and, to be honest, it made my heart all warm and fuzzy. Spinning them around, throwing them up in the air, probably giving them way too much sugar, that’s what babysitting is all about. I’m pretty choosy on who I let watch my kids while the Mrs. and I are away, and while I never thought I’d say this, I’d be willing to pay him $12 an hour to watch the rugrats.

T-Dog: What time does Deegan babysit? Look guys, Paige Craig herself reached out to me telling me how much she loved my column about this. I appreciate her recommendation. He’s in.

Slaw Dog: If that means their social media following will grow, I’m in. Maybe I can start making dumb family TikTok’s and stop answering these questions.

If you could trade places and be any privateer on the circuit, who would you choose, and why?

Bird Dog: I’m not following the rules here, but I wouldn’t trade places with any of them. As much respect as I have for this select group of diehard badasses, there’s no way in hell I’m sending it off a gate lined up with 39 other killers for almost no money, on lesser equipment and likely undertrained because I’d have to have a second job to pay the bills. Sorry bro, but I’m out.

T-Dog: I’d trade with Kevin Moranz. He’s absolutely printing money at the moment and his rig is full of good snacks that I’ve asked for. AND he just signed my best friend Justin Starling to be his teammate. KMR is the place to be at the moment.

Slaw Dog: Easy, Logan Karnow. Dude makes mains, has a fun ass time while doing it, and oh, he has a boat.

With so much Max Anstie hype for Southwick, do you think he will win the overall on his new Star Racing Yamaha?

Bird Dog: This is a ridiculous question. Not only won’t he win, he won’t place in the top five. Anstie has managed to be the best version of himself in the latter part of his career, but he’s not an outdoor overall threat. Not in this field. He tops out around 5th or 6th in my opinion, and with this being his first week on the bike, I’m betting he goes 11-14 for 12th OA. Consider me Nostradamus.

T-Dog: Nope, it’s not going to happen. Haiden Deegan is firing on all cylinders at the moment and Tom Vialle is coming into Southwick hot. If anyone else is going to win the overall it will be Vialle. We also have the emergence of Ty Masterpool. This is going to be a tough class to get a podium in despite Anstie’s insane sand skills.

Slaw Dog: Bird still owes me $5 from our last bet, so if he would like to lose more money this week I’d be happy to take it. Obviously Bird has never watched Max race in sand, because if he had, he’d know that not only will he win a moto this weekend, he’ll be on the overall podium.
