A bit of a shake up in the world of Shane McElrath in the past week. McElrath confirmed to me yesterday that HEP “terminated his contract last week”.
However, as we’ve seen lately with Colt Nichols, Max Anstie, among others, these guys don’t stay free agents for long.
The Madd Parts Kawasaki team, ran by Bubba Pauli, announced today that they’ve signed McElrath to race the final three rounds of the Pro Motocross Championship. They’ve also signed him to race SMX Playoffs.
This is a big move for the Madd Parts Kawasaki team that has made huge strides over the past few years. The one-two punch of McElrath and Freddie Noren will be a big threat to the top ten every weekend in a stacked 450 class.
McElrath will join the team starting this weekend at Unadilla. He currently sits 16th in the Pro Motocross Championship and 13th in the SMX Playoff seeding.
