Unfortunately, Shane McElrath’s time with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna as a fill-in rider has come to an end.
McElrath, who was searching for a ride after the whole BBMX (formerly Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM) fiasco, landed a spot with factory Husqvarna for initially the first four rounds of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross as Dean Wilson and Malcolm Stewart were dealing with injury.
That turned into eight rounds as Wilson and Stewart were recovering, but with a break in the schedule and according to Racer X, Wilson and Stewart returning at Unadilla, McElrath’s time has come to a close.
“Washougal was a tough race day,” McElrath said. “I had pretty good qualifying session but as the track developed more, I struggled on finding a flow out there. I’m happy with my effort and the progress that we’ve made. It’s not easy out there. I’m content with where we’re at but I know I have some more to give and I’m going to keep working regardless of what the future holds. I’m just happy for this opportunity and it’s definitely taught me a lot, so I’m excited.”
Through eight rounds McElrath is 10th in 450 points with a season-high eighth coming at Thunder Valley.
