Hey bros, what’s up? If you have not heard I, Troy Dog, will only be writing a little bit now. I have to write Takes, ya know? It’s my thing and Yamaha sponsors this column, so do yourself a favor and get a new bike from them after reading this, aight?
Anyway, I drive a lot with my new job. No, I’m not a trucker, but I have several places I need to check in on daily. So, as I drive I think about important things. I think about how Jim Chester got sixth place in the Charlotte 125SX East main event in 1995. I’ve also spent time thinking about how Slaw is turning this site into pure cow poopy. But, most importantly I’ve gotten quite angry at thinking about how Shane McElrath should be allowed to race the 250SX class AND HE CAN’T!
Everyone else like Joey Savatgy that petitioned to drop back down shouldn’t be allowed…just Sugar Stache Shane.
Honestly the reason that he should be able to drop down is because he’s owed it. Moody McElrath has been on 67 teams in the last two years. Isn’t this reason enough to let him take an opportunity in the 250 class? McElrath has ridden for more teams than Star Racing has riders at the moment.
In my opinion McElrath would be at least a two-time 250SX champion by now had he not pointed out of the class in 2020. He’s been bounced around to more teams than a track snack looking to further her career in the industry too. (Yes, I see you girls…you’re not slick.)
McElrath has told me that basically the transition to the 450 class was exciting for him, but he still doesn’t feel as fulfilled as he could as far as results go. He knows where he can be and where he wants to be, but he knows that he hasn’t found his place…yet. Last year at HEP he just could not get comfortable no matter what they tried. He did finish fourth in the San Francisco mudfest, but he’s got more in him.
I have a fix for this. Just let my mans drop down to the 250 class. Unless y’all are too scared? I get that he could go on a McGrath type of run here and it’s interesting because the names are similar. Shane McGrath…Jeremy McElrath…same guy basically.
This is my petition to the AMA. Foggy Llama will be the first to sign it. I’m not sure if Shane is riding for Fire Power Honda or Madd Parts Kawasaki this year. He wouldn’t even tell me about his Madd Parts deal after he split from HEP. This man once rocked my sticker on his helmet that made me bummed out.
Anyway, where was I? McElrath is going to succeed in any class that he races. However I’d much rather see him on the podium week in and out in the 250 class. If you let him drop down you would see greatness.
This move would have Deegan calling him and asking what coast McElrath is riding.
Bet.
