When Alta Motors shut its doors, it left a huge gap in the electric motorcycle space. KTM and Husqvarna have filled it on the mini cycle side with their SX-E 5 and EE 5, but none of the major manufacturers have released a bigger model. Honda has been working on one, but we’ve only seen glimpses of it.
Let us introduce you to the EMX Bike— a joint-project from SPIKE Technologies and Dohms Projects with support from Yamaha Motor Europe and KNMV. According to the Dutch-based Dohms Projects, this has been a year-and-a-half in the making and a “prototype should be ready by the end of this year.”
The EMX Bike is a Yamaha YZ250F frame, which holds the electric power train and honestly, looks pretty sick. While we have to wait till later in the year to see it, the company is teasing the project, that promises 250cc performance.
Could this bike replace Alta at the top of the electric chain?
