Man, the hits just keep coming for the stars of the 450 Class. Entering the final round of Monster Energy Supercross, Ken Roczen, who was coming off four straight podiums, was looking to take over third in points from Cooper Webb.
Roczen won his heat and was third off the start in the 450SX main event in Salt Lake City. The German made a mistake entering a corner and dabbed his left leg. He slowly rolled around the track and then headed to the pits.
Jason Weigandt on the TV broadcast caught up with Ken who said he hyperextended his knee.
“You couldn’t see much going back across the straightaway, so I took the really high line, but I almost crashed, put my foot out and absolutely hyperextended my knee,” he said. “It was sharp pain right away, so that’s why I took that lap easy and went off. I’ve never really hurt my knee, so I don’t know what a messed up knee feels like, but it didn’t feel good right there. I’m going to have to see what the deal is.”
Roczen was awarded just one point and ended tied with Cooper Webb in points. Webb had more wins, which means he’ll take third in points ahead of Roczen.
Roczen recently signed a three-year deal to race the FIM World Supercross Championship, which kicks off in July.
This is a developing story. We will have more once it’s known.
