Ty Masterpool will miss at least the opening round of the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship, which opens this Saturday in Anaheim, the HBI Racing Kawasaki team announced over the weekend.
Masterpool, who was expected to make his 450SX debut this weekend, will miss time due to an off-season surgery on his ankle, which is not fully healed, per the team.
“HBI Racing Ty Masterpool went into surgery at the completion of last year’s SuperMotocross championship for an appendectomy after suffering appendicitis at the Ironman Outdoor National. During the same period he took the time to fix a plaguing ankle problem. Unfortunately, the ankle rehab will not be completed by Al and a team decision has been made to delay Ty’s debut in the 450 Supercross class at the advice of his doctors and trainers. The appendicitis has fully healed and doctors feel his ankles will be 100% in the next few weeks.”
Masterpool moved to the 450 Class last Pro Motocross season and had a breakout year, finishing 7th in points.
A return date has not been announced.
