Round 5 or 6 of Monster Energy AMA Supercross was held this past weekend in Tampa. And while there was a TON of great quotes during the press conference and such, we went deeper. And got things riders 100000000 PERCENT DID NOT SAY.
Without further ado, these are things that definitely WERE NOT said by the riders or personnel after the sixth round of the 2023 Monster Energy Supercross Championship, but we all know they were thinking it.
Darren Lawrence: “I stayed chilled that whole race watching Hunter. And that last lap, I’m sure others got emotional, but I was zen-like calm.”
Nate Thrasher: “At least people can’t say I’m a winner-or-bust rider now. Got myself a sweet second place.”
Justin Barcia: “Knowing the level of commitment you have to be riding at, to take someone out, I have to give a lot of kudos to Jason. Golf clap, sir. Golf clap.”
Paul Webb: “I’m back.”
Mr. Honda: “Hey, Elon, how do you go about getting one of those loans, we got some win bonuses to cov…. Actually, no, wait, we good.”
Webb’s Mechanic: “Yeah, I stuck ‘Paul’ up on the pitboard to stir up the internet basically.”
Justin Cooper: “Seriously sweetheart, could we just discuss the possibility that I might get picked for the MXoN?”
Eli Tomac: “I messed up my fantasy picks and forgot to put myself on the podium, so yeah, that explains that.”
Haiden Deegan: “I’ve kinda been flying under the radar since I announced I turned pro, but I guess now people will know who I am.”
Hunter Lawrence: “I knew I had that victory in the bag, which is why I cruised that last 10 metres. For one, it’s a long season and I’m saving as much energy as I can. Two, no one does victory whips anymore, its much better to roll finish line jumps. And three, I really hate coming up short, even on factory suspension. Anyway, inch is as good as a mile.”
