Things have changed in the video world. Everyone is a YouTuber now. Technology is so good anyone can point and shoot a camera at themselves. Vlogs have taken over storytelling and seven-second Instagram reels have replaced Platinum’s. Rather that is good or bad is debatable, but to deny the change is naive.
Throughout the month of December on the Gram and YouTube, we have been counting down our Most Viral Moments of 2024. If you missed them, I have done my best as a Capital J to put them all in one place for you to go and watch and get us that 34 cents from YouTube. Thanks and Happy New Year.
Here’s to more Viral Moments to come in 2025…
#5 Scrub of the Year
This is the only video on the list that was not shot by someone on the Vurbmoto staff. Earlier this year I was scrolling through the Gram and saw what I consider the Scrub of the Year. Japanese rider Haruki Yokoyama posterized this poor fellow at a round of the Australian Motocross Championship and was one of the most-watched videos on our IG in 2024.
#4 Tomac’s Quad
If the 2024 Motocross of Nations was the last for Eli Tomac, let this be the defining moment that we all remember. While Team USA lost out to Australia, Tomac and the boys represented us with pride. VurbWes caught this insane QUAD when Tomac was going Beast Mode and it comes in at #4 on our countdown.
#3 The Most Insane Save
VurbWes has been to Loretta Lynn’s every year since he was like 2 years old. Seriously, it has been like 20 something consecutive years. This year, he rented some amazing camera and my goodness, the footage that came out of it was amazing. Motocross at 800fps is something else and this save from Grant McDonald was good enough to reach #3 on our countdown.
#2 Jett’s San Diego Crash
We still can’t believe this happened. We didn’t even remember it until we checked the stats and at more than 3.5M views this hit #2 on our list of most viral moments of 2024. Luckily, Jettson walked away from this one and four months later walked away with the 450SX.
#1 Deegan’s Massive Scrub
THE SCRUB. This one speaks for itself. An amazing shot by our man Wade Raynor, who I’m sure was thinking he was going to get this shot when he stood near the start.
