What Is the Vurb Shred Tour? Oak Hill Has Been Shredded!

Crop Tops and Tube Socks!

Oak Hill Raceway has officially been shredded! Over the past five months the crew here at Vurb has embarked on our nationwide Dirtbikes are Dope Shred Tour. What is the Shred Tour all about you might ask? Simply put it is a weekend summer camp for all things dirtbikes featuring epic vibes and more free stuff than you know what to do with! You name it, we have it going on each and every stop along the way.

This month’s stop just so happened to be on the grounds of the famed Oak Hill Raceway in Alvord, Texas. Located just outside of Decatur, this track is ground zero for the origin story for what would become what you see here today with vurbmoto. Under new ownership for the last few years, Kevin Coleman and his wife Monique are dirtbike people through and through and it shows with the revamped facility. Don’t forget the Crop Tops and Tube Socks and all of the free photos you can handle from our photographers. Yes 100% free to download. Check out Saturday’s Gallery Here and Sunday’s Gallery Here!

While we touched on it briefly above, let’s revisit this a little more: What is the Shred Tour? Let’s tackle that question head on. The Shred Tour is just that, all shred and no racing for the entire family. Yes activities for the groms as well with even more to come including open riding on the pitbike track and the Stacyc course with FREE Stacyc demos included all weekend! We wanted to take all of that pressure away from race weekends and get back to the root of why we all do this thing called motocross, good times with friends and dirtbikes. Texas showed out for stop five of the Shred Tour and keep the good vibes rolling from Friday afternoon until the last souls rolled out late Sunday evening.

Friday is move in day and the gates were packed prior to the 4 p.m. opening time. Texas was ready to Shred as the Vurb crew prepped the track with signage and other goodies. Friday’s festivities kicked off with some good ol’ slip and slide kickball for the kids. It may or may not of turned into a water balloon fight with kickball happening in the background! It provided some reprieve from the beautiful Texas summer day and the parents were loving it. I’m convinced if we had another 400 balloons we would have been there all evening. The kids enjoyed every last moment of it. Needless to say slip and slide kickball will be making an appearance from here on out.

Saturday and Sunday morning seen droves of people coming through the gates as the first practice hit the track at 9 a.m. sharp. This rotation was 15 minutes of riding for each of the six practice groups with an intermission around 12:30 p.m. for the massive raffle that saw over $2000 in MotoSport.com gift cards, Race Tech rebuilds, a freaking Stacyc plus an immense amount of swag from Fly Racing, Maxima, and of course Vurb. This stop also featured some goods from Pure Kana and Uncle Ronnie himself, Ronnie Mac. That is right, Ronnie was on site all weekend causing pure chaos most of the time as Uncle Ron usually does.

Following the shredding on the track, the rest of the fun started ramping up off of the track Saturday afternoon. Motosport.com hosted the ever popular hotdog cook out where approximately 690 hotdogs were cooked for the masses. Nothing better than some free wieners, am I right?! The Stacyc track was buzzing with excitement as Stacyc showed up with a fleet of demo models to try absolutely free of charge and the parents were taking full advantage of that! There had to be 20+ kids ripping around, taking turns, trying to set fast laps. MotoSport.com kicked in with two $50 gift cards to two lucky Stacyc riders via random draw from a hat.

For the (slightly) older crowd we hosted a pitbike race on one of the dopest pitter tracks we have yet to come across. We split the groups up into 15 & under then 16+, had some heat races then rolled directly into the main events. The locals showed out as Deacon Denno would claim the 15 & under class while Austin Roberts grabbed the win in 16+, both taking home a MotoSport.com gift card for their efforts. Heading back from the pitbike track we were blessed with an incredible North Texas sunset as the best ’80’s rock cover band in Decatur took the state for Uncle Ronnies After Party where Ron set the Guinness World Record for most front fenders cut off in 69 seconds.

At the end of the day, the Shred Tour is whatever you’d like it to be. If you are just looking to kick back with the homies, rip some laps and enjoy the weekend, do it! Want to put in some heaters to prep for the next event coming up, do it! Want to get away with the family to ride in a controlled non-race environment with activities for all ages? The vurbmoto Dirtbikes are Dope Shred Tour is where you need to be.

See you in Maine at MX207 July 17th-18th!

We met Jeff sleeping in a tent down the street from Loretta Lynn's... with his computer. At that point, we knew he would fit in with us. Then, he then drank all the white claw flavors none of us liked, and that's when we knew it was meant to be. Jeff officially became part of the crew.
We're terrible at asking questions, so we're not exactly sure what Jeff does for a living, but he loves petting his cats and dog, growing his beard, and living in a cornfield in Michigan. Jeff also likes to wear cycling glasses while driving his car and using his cameras. We like Jeff.
