Last week more than 6,000 people migrated to Florida for Thanksgiving week to compete in the 53rd annual THOR Mini O’s. We had winners from 20 different states and two countries. This made me think: which state took home the title of best motocross state? So, I hit the stats, ran all the numbers, did some quick math and I have the answers.
#1 – Florida – 15
The Sunshine State brought the BOOM. These guys were able to wrap up 15 titles last week and put on a stellar performance. The locals had to hold it down as it was the hometown race and they couldn’t let another state have the title.
#2 – Georgia – 11
Ludacris isn’t the only thing from Georgia. There are a bunch of fast kids from there too. Georgia was able to secure 11 titles and really put themselves on the map this week as a motocross state.
#3 – Texas – 8
Caden Dudney and Gauge Brown put Texas on the podium this week. These two brought home 7 of the 8 titles themselves in some superb rides. I can’t leave out the third winner, Shannon Tarnow, who secured that 8th win for the Lone Star State. Texas has some rippers, so next year don’t be surprised to see them back on top.
#4 – Alabama – 7
These two Alabama boys must have been jamming some Lynyrd Skynyrd before they hit the track because holy smokes they were on it. The duo of Landon Hartz and Colt Martin brought 7 titles back home to Alabama. All you need is a little shake and bake action and these boys will be on the top step.
#5 – California / Tennessee – 6
A tie, we have a tie. I thought California would easily be on this list, but it seemed to be a rough week for the Cali kids only bringing home 6 titles. While it was a rough week for Cali, Mike Brown must have heard I was going to make this list and you know this guy only goes for the win. Well, Mike put in a damn good performance like normal and was able to bring home 6 titles. I really think there is a chance we could see Mike Brown win all 10 titles in his classes and put Tennessee by himself in the top 3 next year.
The Best of the Rest:
Minnesota – 4
Louisiana – 4
Nevada – 4
Ontario – 3
Nebraska – 2
Pennsylvania- 2
New York – 2
Wyoming – 2
New Jersey – 2
Montana – 1
South Carolina – 1
Maryland – 1
Oregon – 1
Michigan – 1
North Carolina – 1
Mexico – 1
