Back in the day, our crew never missed a World Mini event. It was a staple on the amateur national circuit and all of the top pros in the 450 class today cut their teeth racing at World Mini. Through the years the event changed hands, then last year WE brought it back in the biggest way ever. It’s a prestige event that you’ll need to race to become the next Eli Tomac. The trophies are taller than Benny Bloss and the fun your family will have at the event will be even bigger.
Yesterday I was browsing through our World Mini photo archives and we have so much goodness that it’s insane. Each week leading up to the event, I’ll pull a pic, and we’ll talk about it. Here we go!
2007 World Mini // Terren O’Dell and Justin Barcia
- A lot to unpack here.
- Barcia is on a borrowed bike here, which is interesting.
- Bring back the RedBull JAMS program.
- Terren O’Dell took a 13 year break from racing professional. He qualified into the motos at the Thunder Valley National last summer.
- He went 35-35 on the day for 37th overall.
- In 2007 O’Dell was on the powerhouse Rockstar Suzuki Amateur team led by Team Manager Cole Gress.
- Barcia and Shift gear were like peanut butter and jelly.
- Jeff Emig is the reason that Barcia wore Shift, did you know that?
- Those Thor helmets were such a good look. They sold like hotcakes.
- Bring back helmet fins?
- I’m pretty sure everyone had a pair of those Scott goggles that Barcia is rocking here. They were affordable and got the job done. A wide range of visibility too.
- No, I’m not sponsored by Scott.
- But, I wouldn’t turn down an endorsement deal.
- How many Thor Sentinel chest pros were sold back then?
- Everyone on the Rockstar Suzuki team had Thor gear and Alpinestar boots.
- Justin Weeks would show up to local races on his Rockstar Suzuki and lap me in two laps.
- He did. I didn’t even crash.
- It was B class at Dirt Country.
- He was doing this double-triple-triple and I was opting for the clearly faster double-double-double-double option.
- It’s a shame Cole Gress never saw me ride.
- Man, I wanted to be on the Rockstar Suzuki team so bad.
- The pinstripe Thor gear is not pictured, but it was all-time.
- Who’s bike is Barcia riding???
- The World Mini returns NEXT WEEK!
